y=3 because when you multiply 6 to both numbers, 4.5y and 12,  you will get 27y and 72 then you plugin numbers as y and get 27x3 =81 and 81-72 is 9.

6(4.5y - 12) = 9

(4.5y - 12) = 9/6

4.5y - 12 = 1.5

4.5y = 1.5 + 12

4.5y = 13.5

y = 13.5/4.5

y = 3
