For this case what we must do is multiply the fraction that Tara wants to finish reading by the total number of pages.

We know that:

1) Tara would like to finish 2/5 of her book by next friday.

2) the book has 203 pages

Therefore, the number of pages that Tara should read is:

[tex] N = \frac{2}{5}(203) [/tex]

Rewriting we have:

[tex] N = 81.2 [/tex]

Rounding to the next closest whole we have:

[tex] N = 82 [/tex]

Answer:

Tara needs to read at least 82 pages.
