Without placing an object in water, how can you determine if it will float?

Maybe by testing its density? Depending on what the object is, or what its made of, you might be able to hypothesize what sinks or what floats. Hope this helps! :)

By finding it's density [tex](Density= mass / volume)[/tex] and than comparing it to the waters density (997 kg/m³).

If the density of the object is lower than the waters, it will float, otherwise, it will not.
