When two point of a closed circuit is joined by a wire of zero resistance like if we connect the two terminals of cell by a wire of zero resistance then it is said that battery is short circuit.
similarly any two point of the circuit is said to be short circuit if the two points are connected by zero resistance wire.
so sudden large current will flow through the section which got short circuited
