A covalent compound is made when two or more nonmetal atoms bond by sharing valence electrons.

Covalent compounds are made up of two non-metal atoms.. Non metal atoms are different than metal atoms because they have valence electrons.. The sharing of these electrons between two non metals is what makes up a covalent bond... hope this helps:)
