Why is epoxy resin SOOOOO tough that there are so few corrosive compounds that dissolve it?

well the epoxy is made from a poly chain type molecule that can hold its bonds strong with a additional setting agent that is non corrosive something like a compound similar to gold being non corrosive to many compounds like muriatic or nitric acid. when bonded together they make a touch and strong bond I'm not sure the name but there are forces that cant be broke by acid or corrosive compounds it makes the substance inert or non reactive.
