Supplementary angles are angles that add up to 180 degrees. Oftentimes, we see that supplementary angles are on a straight line, of which is also equal to 180 degrees.

x + y = 180

x + 116 = 180

x = 64 degrees

If angle x and angle y are supplementary angles, that mean that they add up to 180 degrees. So, if angle y is 116 degrees you need to subtract that from 180. The answer would be, 64 degrees.
