x - 2y = 14 . . . . . (1)
x + 3y = 9 . . . . . (2)

(1) - (2) => -5y = 5
y = 5/-5 = -1

From (1), x - 2(-1) = 14
x + 2 = 14
x = 14 - 2 = 12

Solution is (12, -1)
