To Find:

The value of y.

Solution:

5 ( y - 4 ) = 7 ( 2y + 1 )

or, 5y - 20 = 14y + 7

or, 5y - 14y = 7 + 20

or, -9y = 27

or, y = 27/-9 = -3

Answer:

The value of y is -3.
