1. Religious Freedom: The colonies provided a place where people could practice a wider variety of religion. There were Quakers in Pennsylvania, Protestants in the Northeast, and many more as well.

2. More land and resources: The colonies offered many more resources and much more land; it promised new opportunities for the settlers.
