You can tell if a graph represents a proportional relationship by identifying the y-intercept, or the point of the line that crosses the y-axis.

If the y-intercept is 0, then the relationship is proportional. This is called a direct relationship.

If the y-intercept is anything other than 0, then the relationship is not proportional. This is called an indirect relationship.
