It was thought that the Earth was the central planet in the planetary system and that every other planet turned around the Earth.

Explanation:

Aristotle had an opinion that the planets and Sun are motionless. He didn't see any sign of movement of the Earth. No perpetual winds that would blow.

Also, he said that the ball thrown into the air didn't fall behind the one who threw it, so it meant the Earth couldn't be rotating and moving.
