The cerebral cortex is very important and is responsible for sensation, perception, memory, association, thought, and voluntary physical action.The cerebellum coordinates muscle movements, and maintains posture and balance. You can think of the brainstem as the relay point that connects the cerebrum and cerebellum to the spinal cord.
