At the Supreme Court of Louisiana, Ferguson argued that the segregation statute breached the Fourteenth Amendment Equal Protection Clause prohibiting states that 'equal law protection should be granted to any individual under their jurisdiction' and that the Thirteenth amendment prohibiting slavery.'
