A cannonball is launched off a cliff 125 m in height (dy) with a HORIZONTAL VELOCITY (Vx) of 33 m/s.

How long (flight time) does it take for the cannonball to land?

Answer:

S = Vy t + 1/2 g t^2

Vy = 0  since the initial vertical speed is zero

125 = 1/2 * 9.8 * t^2

t^2 = 250 / 9.8 sec^2

t = 5.05 sec
