-2x - 7 > 5x + 14

Subtract 5x from both sides

-2x - 5x - 7 > 5x - 5x + 14
-7x - 7 > 14

Add 7 to both sides

-7x - 7 + 7 > 14 + 7

-7x > 21

Multiply both sides by (-1) to eliminate negative sign and reverse the inequality

(-1) -7x > 21 (-1)

7x < -21

Divide both sides by 7:

7x/7 < -21/7

x < -3
