To make 5/8 and 1/4 even, we multiply 1/4 by 2 on the numerator and denominator.

This makes the fractions, 5/8 and 2/8.
5/8 + 2/8 = 7/8

8/8 - 7/8 = 1/8

There is 1/8 of the loaf left.
