Use the [tex]\frac{rise}{run}[/tex] equation to find the gradient, however this time use the same equation to rearrange and solve for g.

Points are (-4,-5) and (-3,g)

Gradient = 9

[tex]\frac{y_{2}-y_{1} }{x_{2} -x_{1} } = Gradient[/tex]

Substitute the x and y values from the points, and also substitute in the gradient (9).

[tex]\frac{g-(-5)}{-3-(-4)} = 9[/tex]

[tex]\frac{g+5}{-3+4} = 9[/tex]

[tex]\frac{g+5}{1} = 9[/tex]

[tex]g+5=9[/tex]

Solve for g.

g = 9 - 5

g = 4
