(3,2)  y = 2x + b, find the value of b.

Plug in 3 for x, and 2 for y.

y = 2x + b

2 = 2(3) + b

Simplify.

2 = 6 + b

Subtract 6 from both sides.

2 - 6 = b

-4 = b

So, b = -4
