Plowing removed the grass from the Great Plains and exposed the soil. What effect did this have when a drought struck the Great Plains during the 1930s?

Without the grass to hold down the soil, when the drought struck it turned to dust essentially. When winds picked up, or even just when someone walked over the fields, tons of dust was kicked up into the atmosphere, thus creating the Dust Bowl.        :)  hope this helps
