3^4 can be written as:

3 to the power of 4.

3 is the base number, and 4 is the exponent.

An exponent is basically a summarized version of saying the base number multiplies against itself however many times, the exponent clarifies that.

So... we'd write it out as:

3^4 = 3 * 3 * 3 * 3
In the end we get:
3 * 3 = 9, 9 * 3 = 27, 27 * 3 = 81

3^4 = 81 | There's your conclusion.
