[tex] \frac{1}{2} [/tex]x=9-13
[tex] \frac{1}{2} [/tex]x=-4
x=-4*2
x=-8

multiply by 2 to eliminate the fraction
x+ 26= 18
subtract 26 from both sides
  x=  -8
