Using the Omega system of determining the location of the double bond, the numbering will start at the opposite end of the carboxyl end. If the first double bond appear on the SIXTH omega carbon, then it is an omega-6 fatty acid. These fatty acid are unsaturated because of the presence of one or 2 double bonds.
