What does the desire to represent tell us about the importance of art for humans?

The desire to represent in humans, tells us that as humans, we are a species who likes to tell others how we feel using visual representations. During the Renaissance, this could be seen in almost all of the great works. Beyond painting, this is carried over into plays, music and architecture.
