One disadvantage would be the loss of the habitat of many native species, deforestation is not good.

Loss of trees causes less oxygen to produced. Most living creatures need oxygen to live so thats a huge deal.

Loss of trees also can destroy habitats of many different animals, effectively killing many different species, sometimes even to extinction.
