In texas politics, bifactionalism refers to 2 dominant factions organized around regional, economic, or ideological differences within a single political party.
Bifactionalism tend to create a crack/separation between the political party on which candidates they should appoint for the next election. The exsitance of such things will greatly increase the chance of victory for the opposition party.
