Jim had 3,067.49 in his checking account. He wrote a check to pay for two airplane tickets. His account now has $1,845.24. How much did each ticket cost ?

You can set it up like this (assuming that each plane ticket costs the same):
[tex]3067.49-2x=1845.24[/tex]

Then, solve for x:
[tex]-2x=-1213.25[/tex]

Simplify:
[tex]x = 606.625[/tex]

Each ticket cost him $606.625.
