What Indian ruler was converted to Buddhism?

This was Ashoka the Great!

He was a ruler in third century BCE and he ruled all of North and parts of South India. He converted to Buddhism  after he witness the distraction of Kalinga (Central India, on the Eastern shore) when we conquered it and he regretted the suffering he caused.
