Hey there!

Kinetic energy is defined as the energy of motion. The more motion and with more force an object has, the more kinetic energy it has. When an object is moving faster at a constant rate, it has more kinetic energy. When it's moving slower, it has less.

Therefore, when this puck is falling, it's gaining kinetic energy, because it has more motion when it falls.
